59 PM EasternGeneral Definition of Work The Social Work Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the programs within the department of social services, along with ensuring compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

Essential Functions Supervision of social workers that provide direct services to children in DSS custody and their families.
Program area supervised is primarily Foster Care Services Responsible for assigning cases to Social Workers, coordinating the workflow, Supervising staff through case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction.
Responsible for staff training, resolving problems and ensuring that quality service is provided.
Responsible for providing relevant information to higher management on administrative, personnel, and budget issues.
Ensure that policies, rules, and regulations are followed.
Employee is expected to help man an emergency shelter in times of disaster.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education & Experience Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems.
Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment, governmental and private organizations, and community resources.
Considerable knowledge in court proceedings relating to child welfare.
Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs.
Ability to supervise, train or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns or other staff.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Ability to produce results under pressure and with limited resources.
Must have strong communication skills, orally and in writing and be an active listener.
Ability to lead support groups and possess strong public speaking skills.
Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; or a bachelor's degree in human services Field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; master's degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience.
A valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing and occasionally requires walking, sitting, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
